EDP Business of the Year and winners for Investing in Future Growth, Richardson's Family Holidays have been announced as main sponsor for the Norfolk Youth Awards 2020 joining Norfolk County Council (Children Services) and City College, Norwich.

Organised and hosted by OPEN Youth Trust (OPEN), a city centre youth charity, the annual Norfolk Youth Awards acknowledge and celebrate the achievements of young people living in Norfolk.  OPEN has been working alongside young people for fifteen years now and these awards are designed to give young people the recognition and encouragement they deserve.

Greg Munford, CEO for Richardson's Family Holidays said: “It is important that we recognise the impact our young people make, as they are the key to the future of the region and these awards are great opportunity for the local community to do just that.  As a main sponsor we are committed to creating opportunities to better ourselves by supporting each other,  which is why we felt sponsoring the Norfolk Youth Awards was a natural fit for us.”

We know only too well how amazing young people can be with the right support and these awards are a perfect platform for the local community to shout out loud  and proud about the achievements of young people living on their doorstep.”

The Norfolk Youth Awards open for nomination on Friday 14th February and are open to all young people in Norfolk aged between 11-19 (or up to the age of 25 for those with additional needs).  Young people can be nominated for one or more of the following categories:

  • Community 
  • Sport (Individual)
  • Team of the Year
  • Arts
  • Charity
  • Entrepreneur
  • Perseverance
  • Momentum Volunteer Award
  • Education

Plus there is a “Hero” award which recognising an adult who in the eyes of young people is their 'hero' or young person’s champion

Members of the public, youth groups and anyone working with young people have until Thursday 30th April to submit their nominations and then independent panel of judges will then decide the finalists and winners.  Nominations can either be submitted online or by picking up a nomination form from OPEN’s café or box office, nominees must be aged between 11-19 (or up to 25 years for those with additional needs) and living in Norfolk, with the exception of the Hero Award.

The winners will be announced during a special award ceremony on Wednesday 10th June 2020 at OPEN Youth Trust.
