OPEN Norwich, Norwich’s city centre youth, music and events venue, is delighted to announce a great line of big names, new emerging talent, plus the return of some favourites, heading to Norwich in 2019.
Kicking off 2019 in OPEN’s Banking Hall, is Tim Burgess (frontman of The Charlatans) who has announced a nine-date UK solo tour. Tim and his solo band The Anytime Minutes will be performing on Monday 4thFebruary as part of Independent Venue Week. Tickets £15 adv.
Tim is followed by Trevor Nelson, who bring his Soul Nation to Norwich on Saturday 23rd February for a night of classic 80s, 90s and 00s soul & RNB all night long! Following a glorious SOLD OUT debut last year, Huey Morgan returns to OPEN, this time for a full venue experience on Saturday 4th May. The front man of Fun Lovin’ Criminals and a hugely respected BBC 6 Music DJ, Huey has perfected the musical equivalent of the cosmic Big Bang, disco, hip hop and funk over decades as an in-demand DJ and musician, tickets £13 adv.
On Saturday 11th May Common People returns and celebrates its fifth ‘full venue’ experience with special guest DJ and the most loved maraca player and dancers of the era, Bez, from chart-toppers Happy Mondays & Blackgrape. Tickets £12 adv.
New names heading to OPEN’s Club Room the first time are: Whiskey Shivers, on Wednesday 20th February. Whiskey Shivers are a diverse group of masterfully talented musicians who stand out like a sore thumb from the traditional bluegrass world performing (tickets £15 adv)
Coco and the Butterfields, an English indie-pop band, perform on Thursday 28th March, having spent much of their time on the road, touring the UK and Europe, selling out headline shows and featuring at many major festivals. Tickets £12 adv
Benjamin Francis Leftwich, English singer/songwriter from York, brings electronic elements into play, and darker, intricately layered production, whilst still maintaining the raw emotion that has resonated throughout his work to date. Benjamin will be in Norwich on Wednesday 3rd April – tickets £15 adv.
Returning to the Banking Hall at OPEN after their sell out show in April 2018 are The Dead South (Saturday 9thFebruary), tickets £18 adv. The Dead South are a Canadian folk-bluegrass musical ensemble initially formed in 2012.
Twin sisters, Catherine and Lizzy aka Ward Thomas have been described as Britain’s first country stars. The modern country-pop duo from Hampshire, return to Norwich on Saturday 2nd March – tickets £18.50 adv.
The Unthanks, known for their eclectic approach in combining traditional English folk, particularly Northumbrian folk music, with other musical genres perform on Wednesday 15th May and nine -piece Jamaican Rhythm & Blues band from South-East London The Dualers on Saturday 18th May tickets £20 adv.
