OPEN Youth Trust (OPEN), a city centre youth charity, invite members of the public to join them at their one-off performance of it’s own ‘A Modern Carol’ – a modern take on the Dickensian classic “A Christmas Carol”.
The script and songs have been written by members of OPEN’s Youth Team and the production will feature young people from all of OPEN’s performing arts groups, including their ballet, musical theatre and drama classes. Bringing together aspects of pantomime, drama and musical to showcase the hard work and talent of all those involved. The performers hope to present a ‘Millennial’s take of a Dickensian Revelation’, setting the performance on Christmas eve 2018, with Scrooge having ‘pulled funding from a fantastic youth charity’.
Michaela Rudling, OPEN’s Youth Dance Instructor who is organising the production, says: “performances such as this are a great opportunity for our young people, it brings together all of their hard work and gives everyone an opportunity to be creative with what they have learned, as well as improving self-confidence.”
As with all events and youth performances organised by the charity, all the profits raised from ‘A Modern Carol’ will be put back into funding activities on offer to young people.
The performance will take place on Wednesday 19th December 2018 at 6.30pm. Tickets are £8 for adults and £6 for under 16s and are available via OPEN’s Box Office or online via Book Now button opposite
