The Mariachis have been confirmed to headline alongside the Bavarian Strollers at next year’s Springfest – A world street food and drink festival coming to OPEN in March 2018.
The Mariachis are the fun loving guys regularly seen on TV screens across the UK in the Doritos ads. With their versions of pop classics with a Mexican twist that include the Human League’s ‘Don’t You Want Me’, East 17′s ‘Stay Another Day’ and Joan Jett’s ‘I Love Rock & Roll’, they promise to have those attending Springfest singing and partying along.
Formed by Salvador Jimenez Hernandez, the band all hail from South America and currently reside in the UK. Consisting of guitars, accordion and trumpet, all the band members are highly accomplished musicians and singers. The band perform many other pop hits along with traditional Mariachi repertoire including songs like La Bamba, Guantanamera and Lambada.
Having performed acoustically for the Royal family to appearing in front of 30,000 people at the Wireless music festival they have also headlined the Avalon Stage at the Glastonbury Festival and have become the ‘go to’ band for UK TV shows requiring a Mariachi band, with performances on Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Take-Away, The One Show, Good Morning Britain, A Question of Sport, Graham Norton and Paul O’Grady to name a few. They were last seen performing in Norwich at Rod Stewart’s gig at Carrow Road last year.
On Saturday 24th March 2018 they will be performing in the Banking Hall at OPEN in Norwich when the venue will be transformed next March into a global drinks, food and entertainment venue featuring the very best from five continents – Europe, Asia, The Americas, Australasia and Africa.
The event will also be incorporating a spring version of Oktoberfest - the hugely popular Bavarian festival recently held at OPEN. There will be a wide selection of well-known and lesser-known Bavarian and other world beers and cocktails, a diverse array of quality Street Food and first-class live entertainment. Springfest will simply be one of the biggest one-off Food & Drink celebrations ever seen in our Fine City.
Those attending can even take full advantage of a World Spirits lounge, allowing guests to sample unique drinks with a global flavour.
John Gordon-Saker, Chief Executive for OPEN said: “Springfest is one of a number of different style events we have lined up for 2018 and we are excited to have The Mariachis performing here in our Banking Hall. Tickets to Springfest make an ideal great corporate gift for companies looking for something different to give at this time of year, especially as the money raised from this event is being donated to the OPEN Youth Trust, enabling the charity to offer a diverse range of activities, most of which are free to attend, for young people aged from 7 to 25”.
